Default Complicated Guildwars account story

Note: I have no idea if this is the appropriate section to be posting this.

So when i first wanted to play guild wars about 2 years ago a friend of mine gave me his cousins account because he didnt play. I was excited and I spent many hours on this game leveling up different professions, getting armor completing expansions and finishing everything the game had to offer untill i eventually quit. that same friend asked if he could borrow the account back since i didnt play.

I said yes and moved on. Now with guild wars 2 coming out and the HoM awards. I wanted to log on again to find that my account had been banned. for what reason i have no idea but I want to get back into my account

I would imagine that trying to get back into this account of mine is going to be extremely difficult since i lack most if not all the information that was provided at its creation. I know character names and what i did on them and thats about it.

thoughts? suggestions? I wanted to get your guys opinions to see if this is a lost cause and if i should just buy the games and start all over. I would also like to say that I was thinking that if i could prove i bought the expansions with the codes they would have no problem re-enableling it, but at the time i was naive and had just started playing PC games and never realized the importance of keeping those codes so I of course threw them away upon use.

Edit: I just found my nightfall activation code omg, hopefully that will be enough to get it reactivated

Good Luck. Basically, even if you purchased expansions and could prove it, the original account is not yours. You cannot transfer ownership of an account. It is against the EULA.

Your best bet, and probably the only solution, is to purchase the game again and start over.

If your friend played and managed to get the account banned, you should just buy a new account--you can get the trilogy for pretty cheap now--and it will be YOURS.

I would honestly suggest you to just not even try to get the account back, the game is extremely cheap now for all three expansions and you won't have to worry about signing on one day and somehow your banned or something happened.

The exact topic of this thread is exactly the reason account ownership transfer and sharing is aganst the EULA. Because shit like this happens.

if the email linked to the banned account isn't yours, don't even bother.

why drag this complicated account used (and dirtied) by multiple people onwards to gw2? were your prior accomplishments worth it? probably not, unless you had some high pvp titles, and even then, they won't translate to anything in gw2 besides the 3 pts they earn in the HoM. if other people can claim the account as their own with their keycodes, there is potential that more problems can arise in the future.

like the others say, starting over with a fresh acct using your actual email address is probably best. 30/50 HoM for all bonus items in gw2 is fairly easy.

Along the lines that everyone else was going: You cannot get the account back because it is not yours to get back. It was your friend's account, not yours. I agree that you'd be better off getting a new copy and playing through again if you are really interested in the game.

Yes I agree with all this, but I have the email and the only reason im makeing such a big deal out of it is because my warrior (my main) has 48/50 HoM points. I would hate for that effort to go to waste.

I think it has been wasted already.

For one the account was banned. It could have already been hacked and the worst that could happen is that your warrior might have had been deleted. If not, maybe everything you have ever saved up were sold and gone.

I would really suggest that you go get a new copy that is yours and build them back up. It is better that way.

When you share accounts, you're going to lose them one way or another. Whether it be from arenanet catching onto the logs, or another person gets greedy and changes the password and steals the keys.

This happened to a friend of mine. he left a friend borrow it when he wasnt playing..yet then got mad when he discovered items of his gone. I lol'd hard. this is why you dont share accounts. just buy your own its worth it. and i hate to think why he got his account banned.

It was not your account to begin with, you will not get it back, if you get a new copy of the game, and get into a good guild, you can recover that 48/50 pretty fast, espically as some of the titles where changed, ( survivor, drunkard ) and you dont have to reset everytime.
